Dr. Melanie Watkins—“Dr. Mel”—@MWatkins MD-–is an experienced mental health expert, marathoner, mother, author, mover and shaker. She loves all things virtual because it creates time for what is real and what really matters.
As a Stanford trained physician, Dr. Mel has practiced every area of psychiatry. Dr. Mel actively works in private practice in hospitals, psych ER, forensic, adolescents, addiction, and also works with patients who have chronic mental illness and their families. She has an unconventional practice, which allows her to travel the world while giving her patients excellent care.
Dr. Mel believes that a person’s overall wellbeing starts with the mind. And mental health providers must put their mental health first.

Thus far, Dr. Mel has completed seven marathons in seven years, won a few bucks on a well-known game show, climbed Yosemite Half Dome and traveled extensively across the globe all while keeping a day job and raising a son! There are no super powers here: Just determination, hard work and lots helping hands along the way.
Dr. Melanie Watkins is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and Licensed by the California State Medical Board to practice Medicine and Psychiatry in the State of California.
Dr. Mel received her medical training at the Stanford University School of Medicine and completed an internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California in San Francisco. Her specialty training in Psychiatry was complete at the University of Nevada Department of Psychiatry. She began working as a locum tenens physician during her third year of residency and every since then, she has enjoyed having control of her career. She has a well-established private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area.
